Bamboo Shades are Good for More Than Decorating
In addition to the aesthetic considerations such as decor and design, privacy and light control must be an important part of the decision process whenever choosing Bamboo shades, regardless of which room of the home they are to be installed. Natural Bamboo shades can be viewed as a “green product” but their capabilities extend well beyond the environmental concern. For now, we will only focus on the privacy aspect of this wonderful product.
As the trend to live in clusters gains popularity, privacy is an extremely important part of the choice we make for window treatments. In today's society, security is also an ever present necessity regardless of the size of our family. Bamboo shades are particularly efficient in shielding you and your loved ones from the outside world and the dangers it may bring upon you if your privacy is not maintained at all times. Proper installation of the Bamboo shades is critical to providing this protection.
Whenever Bamboo shades are improperly installed, the following conditions may be present - in an inside mount installation the shade does not fully cover the opening of the window by either not descending to the bottom of the window or by allowing gaps on either side thus allowing for prying eyes to look inside the room. If an outside mount is preferred, the length of the shade should be at least six inches longer that the window itself and the shade should overlap the opening by a minimum of six inches overall thus minimizing snooping. Smaller windows will benefit by the outside mount installation by augmenting their appearance in relation to the rest of the room.
Privacy being the focus of the article, the type of Bamboo material being used should also be a topic of consideration. Overlapping Bamboo sticks will provide the most privacy due to the lack of open areas and will also provide the best light control. Some Bamboo patterns maintain openings betweens the “sticks” so therefore attention should be paid to this matter. Usually the space found between the “sticks” is acceptable to most consumers yet if true privacy is a concern for a specific room, careful attention is recommended.
All Bamboo shades, regardless of their design, can achieve 100% privacy by the addition of a full liner. A liner will insure that all gaps, regardless of size, will be covered thus eliminating the ability to see through the shade regardless of its design or fabrication. It is recommended that whenever full privacy is desired that the Bamboo shade be mounted outside the window and that it properly overlaps the window opening. Additionally, fully lined Bamboo shades display the natural beauty of the Bamboo more radiantly than unlined shades. Also, fully lined Bamboo shades will provide much better light control than unlined shades.
In summary, it is indeed in the planning stages when privacy must be given the priority it requires according to the mode of living of the buyer. Windows with a beautiful view as well as windows facing neighbors can be a part of the specific interior decor by the use of Bamboo shades. Regardless of the pattern, Bamboo shades can always provide full privacy and light control when properly measured and installed. The wise, educated selection of the Bamboo shade is sure to provide years of pleasure and safety to you and all of your family members regardless of venue.
