Fun Ways to Get Your Kids to Clean Up
Getting kids to clean up after themselves can be a hard task. Telling them to clean their room a hundred times a day or taking away there favorite toys just does not work anymore. A great way to get your kids to start helping out around the house is to make cleaning time, fun time. These tips may help out a little or it can completely turn your child into the next "Mr. or Ms. Clean". It has helped me with my kids and hopefully it can help you as well.
Dirty Laundry: When asked to put away the dirty laundry, the first thing children might do is hide all their dirty clothes under the bed. For some reason, putting away the dirty clothes in the laundry basket is not as fun as hiding them underneath the bed. A fun way to get them to put away their dirty laundry into the laundry basket is placing a basket ball hoop behind their bedroom door and placing a laundry basket underneath the basket ball hoop. Make a score sheet and put in all of the days of the week. Each day the child is given 5 points if all the dirty clothes is put in the laundry basket. If pieces of clothing are found around the room, a point for each piece of clothing will be taken away. At the end of the week, the points are added and they will receive a prize. A high score of 35 points, meaning perfect, will get them a favorite snack or toy. Include yourself as well. Make a score sheet for yourself and the rest of the family. Compete to see who gets the highest points at the end of the week. Have fun shooting dirty socks into the basket and see who makes the most shots.
Making the bed: Kids always try to avoid making the bed. There is always an excuse. Well I have figured out a fun and easy way to get your kids to enjoy making the bed. Redecorating. Yes, redecorating the bedroom. A space themed bedroom is a cool bedroom theme for any boy or girl. First let us start of with the bed. Choose the proper bedding. Tip: You can start off with a timer. When the timer goes off, each child rushes to put away the laundry and make the bed. The first one to finish, wins and gets a big hug and kiss!
