Window Valances - A Good Start
For some people, nothing beats being able to gaze out a window and watch the world go by. If that is you, the last thing you want is to cover up the window and not be able to see. Yet, we want a scant color and decoration for the window and to meet these two needs, a window valance is the splendid solution. There are many, many styles offered in window valances, so you will be sure to find the exact one. If you would rather the window to be always open, just use the valance by itself, if however, you want a little seclusion at night, you can couple it with shutters, blinds, or perhaps a set of drapes.
One of the most popular window valance is the balloon valance. It derives its name from the manner it puffs out like a balloon. This look is comprised by pinching and bundling the material so that it "puffs" up. To keep the pufff in place, the inside of the valance is filled with tissue paper. Newspaper could be used as well, but you'll have to be certain to be very careful if the fabric is delicate and lightweight, so that the writing doesn't show!
