Sheer Shades
I found the billowing, soft and subtle, sheer shades to be an awesome addition while decorating my home. I added a new sliding glass door off the back patio, because it was lacking a bit of luster to bring out the cottage look I was hoping to accomplish. I went online and found exactly what I was looking for. I really wanted to put up sheer shades in all of my rooms. Vertical sheer shades come in tons of soft colors. I picked out rose mist colored sheer shades to place over the sliding glass door, which made it look great! This color went perfectly with my white wicker furniture and the red roses from my garden that I am constantly placing around the room. The vertical sheer shades gave off a traditional yet contemporary look that turned out to be awesome! I especially enjoy the light filtering, the privacy control, and the vanes that are actually machine washable. They are so elegant and versatile!
For the large windows of that same room, I purchased the same rose mist color. This time I chose the horizontal sheer shades. This has the look of sheer cottage draperies functioning as shades, which gave us easy operation functionality and created a great see through space. The sheer shades can be adjusted to be open, closed, raised and lowered. Super easy to operate! I chose this vertical style as they are available in extra wide widths to cover the largest of windows, and can be ordered in three inch extra wide vanes. Perfect!
The upstairs rooms were a challenge, because I really wanted to find some shades to filter out the heat of those rooms. Starting with the French doors off the balcony, I chose a vertical sheer shade in a voile material that gave the appearance of soft evenly weaved silk. These sheer shades gave me plenty of light, darkness control, and promised to offer plenty of privacy, along with keeping the room cooler.
Moving on to the three bedrooms upstairs, I could not wait to tear down those old heavy black out drapes, and install my sheer shades that I had just purchased. For each bedroom I chose a different color to show off the colorful area rugs I had found for the rooms prior to the sheer shade search. I found for these rooms, what is called ‘Moonlight sheer shades' which allows tons of light to enter when open, and keeps the rooms in the darkest of shadows at night when closed. What a beautiful difference it made putting up the sheer shades and now I can toss out those old black out drapes. Now I did not have to turn on lights in either of these bedrooms in the daytime, as I always had to do before. That was definitely a bonus!
In closing, I can say that sheer shades worked best for my home. I needed something to make it bright and airy, and also it is nice to be able to keep out the heat during the day. Ordering them online was easy, once I measured the windows and doors and picked out the colors and styles that fit my home. Don't be afraid to do this yourself, because it is much cheaper than hiring someone else to come in and do the measuring for you, then you have to wait for the shades to be made, and then have them correctly installed.
