My Vertical Blind find
Well recently I purchased what my friends are calling ‘a party house!' This house has three outside patios and tons of windows, and beings as our climate here in California is pretty much awesome most of the time, I knew they were right with calling it the ‘party house'! Outside is the place to be, and the house is perfect for parties and get together with family and friends. So the name truly fits the house.
Two of the bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open up onto an outdoor patio going to the swimming pool. I had searched the mall and then online to find some kind of window coverings for both. Vertical blinds seemed to be the best way to go, because they are affordable, easy to take care of, plus they add the versatility to the rooms. I chose a durable designer faux wood vertical blind for each room. The vertical blinds I found come in nine different colors which totally helped with my homes already cool décor. I chose a brown mahogany color for one of the largest bedrooms, to close out the light when needed, and also for the privacy factor. The stained three and a half inch vanes, give the appearance of real wood which is a bonus. This room has a large bay window as well, so I chose the same color in a vertical blind for this room. The other bedroom with the sliding glass door, stays pretty dark. It's located on the eastside of the home and has a small window, and allows very little sunlight to come in. For this room I chose a lighter bamboo color to try to brighten it up. This lighter color went perfectly with the light oak furniture that I bought especially for this darker room. What a difference the vertical blinds made to that room!
The last room with a sliding glass door is located off of the living room. This extra large room has huge windows, very long in length. Not being a fan of drapes, due to having to clean and the customizing cost factor, I was not sure what to use as an alternative. So, I went back online, and again I chose vertical blinds, both for the large windows and for the patio door. I was quite surprised to find that I could order them custom fit, and still keep the costs down to a minimum. These vertical blinds also come in many colors and in a beautiful fabric with a color coordinated valance. I ordered these in a light blue, to enhance the outside pool area, the off white furniture in the room, and the huge salt water fish tanks that I have in them. My friends joke around and call this room the ‘blue lagoon room', because they say it makes them want to just chill out, relax, and let the world go by. Just the look and ambiance I was going for!
I am pretty stoked with my ‘party house'. My friends and family and I, really enjoy spending our days here. The vertical blinds seem to set the doors and windows in my house off to be somewhat of a showplace sort of room. And it still makes it a fun place to chill, relax, swim, bbq, and party hardy! So if you have this style of a house, and you are undecided as to an alternative to ugly, heavy, possibly expensive drapes, I suggest to go online and find yourself some custom made vertical blinds like I did. You will be just as happy as I am! It's time to party!
