Clare Valley The World's Best Producer of Riesling

Authorities theorized that the kind of grape known as Riesling began around 1435 from Germany and subsequently spread throughout other countries with cold climate such as Franch,Italy, China, and Australia. Raising grapes in Clare Valley was developed by the first resident of Clare Valley named John Ainsworth Horrocks in 1840s. It was James Green (Horrocks' servant) who primarily planted grapes in the area. At some point, the winery was maintained by Jesuit Brothers utilising its own products during religious rituals. The area eventually thought of raising the special kind of grape called Riesling which was soon established in 1990's. Accordingly, Clare Valley gets the most favorable temperature and geography thus producing the noblest variety of Riesling. The cold wind is believed to be the best credit in producing the best quality Riesling for it minimizes the ripening phase of the fruit. The red soil also is looked on to be the grape's most desired for it mainly contains specific minerals that is perfectly suited to the kind of grape. Clare Valley's type of soil is wet, thus supplementing the produced grapes throughout dry seasons.

Among the time-honored manufacturers of wines are Mitchell Watervale, Grosset, Petaluma, Pauletts Polish Hill River, and Mount Horrocks Watervale. Petaluma is excelled by Brian Croser, whose winery reputed to have set up the benchmark of wineries around Australia. Pauletts Polish Hill River is the source of Classic Clare Riesling. Mount Horrocks Watervale operated by Stephanie Toole produces the most concentrated Riesling wine in the area. The Grosset is established by Jeffrey Grosset who had managed two wineries named as Polish Hill and Watervale. Mitchell Watervale is run by couple , producing many wines annually since 1977.

Locals of Clare Valley features the best of their region by establishing a trail around the Rieslins wineries in Clare Valley. The trail is two hours and a half trail working through the 35 kilometers track. The trail starts from Auburn and Clare passing the villages of Leasingham, Watervale, Penwortham and Sevenhill. Wine enthusiasts anticipate a lot from Clare Valley as the primary maker of the best Riesling with the hope that the area will consistently keep its title.
